Hello again,
It has been a while that you heard from us and that is true. Therefore please accept our humble apologies. We have been pretty busy with guests which was a good thing. This way we were at least able to make a little bit of money. The rooms are looking very pretty at the moment. Kim made herself head boards, and we have safes now as well. So right now our rooms begin to really look quite professional. The beginning of January we would like to go for a grading (either a star rating or a rating from the AA (automobile association). Perhaps we would like to get both grading done, we just have to see how much that costs.
Let me talk about what happened to us personally. Kim is doing very fine and I am laying on the couch with my leg up in the air. About a week ago I decided that it was time to fix the antenna to the wall. So I climbed a ladder and just when I reached the top, the ladder started moving and I fell down. I cannot recall exactly what happened but the result was that I couldn’t move anymore. So our guests at that time were so incredible friendly to load me in the vehicle and drive me to Phalaborwa to make some x-rays. The result was obvious. I had my left tibia severely fractured. After 2 morphine shots and another drive to Tzaneen mediclinic, which was about an hour away, we arrived there in the beginning of the evening. They druged me pretty goodand I had to spend the night to receive an operation the next morning.
The operation was a success. Consider myself right now Robocop 3 with all the metal that I have in my leg. Right now the pain is getting less by the day and Wednesday the 25 stitches will be removed. The doctor prognosed that it will take another 6 – 8 weeks before I can walk again. This is of course pretty shitty to us since we have full lodge from the 20th of December until the beginning of January. Thank goodness Holland was also that considerate to think with us and therefore we got yesterday a good mate of mine from Holland over to help us out over this period. Thank you so much Roel, highly appreciate it!!!
As you can imagine, the summer is coming up and temperatures are rarely below 30 degrees (today it is 38 degrees), and I am laying here on the couch and not being able to swim in our lovely pool!!! Hopefully this will change in about a weeks time if I don’t have a bandage anymore…
The bush is very green again. It is absolutely mind blowing. After the first rain that we had (believe me it was a big cloud burst), the next morning we saw all the grass and other plants reappearing again. This was very good since we had enough of the elephants coming in and destroying all of our trees. Next year we think that we will put up an elephant fence (one wire with 10.000 volts on about 2 – 2,5 meters high). But we will have to see it how it all goes.
And for the ones that did not know yet. There is a new member at the lodge. His name is Nero and he has four legs and a tail. It is a great dog full of joy and energy. We really enjoy him every minute. He can be very naugthy, but hey, he is still a puppy.

Jeetje wat een verhaal!!! Maar wat fijn dat een vriend van jullie is gekomen om te helpen.
Wij hebben vandaag in Pretoria de heerlijke warmte gevoeld en ook de eerste regenbui op onze kop gehad, maar was heerlijk! Overmorgen arriveren we in het Krugerpark. Ik probeer nog te contacten, maar zal in deze omstandigheden voor jullie denk ik lastig zijn om af te spreken. Wij hebben namelijk hier geen vervoer. Komt hopelijk een volgende keer dan.

Lieve Kim en Sander!Wat vreselijk wat er allemaal gebeurd is!Maar de operatie is goed gelukt !En nu herstellen !Heel fijn dat jullie vriend Roel komt helpen !Ja dit is echt een kameraad !De lodge ziet er erg mooi uit !Geweldig !Lieverds,heel veel sterkte met het herstel en natuurlijk de gasten!Maar jullie zijn kanjers dus dat lukt allemaal!Dikke kus van LYDIA -
